Louis Vuitton’s latest foray into skiwear is the perfect balancing act between fashion and function. Imbuing padded gilets and hooded puffers with water-resistant zippers and heat-sealed seams, the French luxury house has successfully developed an alpine-ready collection that looks just as good in the city as it does on the mountain. Paying homage to the late Virgil Abloh’s LV legacy, the offering reaffirms the maison’s commitment to street-centric accents, warming up the shelves for the release of Pharrells’ hot topic SS24 collection. With both womenswear and menswear on offer, this new release is perfect for any powder-loving power couple.
Sticking firmly to its staple symbols, the LV logo and floral motif are printed onto skin-tight tops and sewn into sleeveless zip-ups. For the men, salopettes and baggy trousers are treated to the leather-look, whilst a boxy varsity jacket is on offer for the women, surrounding the drop with an air of edgy durability. Across the board, a spattering of teddy fleeces and cashmere jumpers are ideal for the cozy-inclined customers. Matching ski-sets are developed with technical material game set for carving up the slopes. While the palettes are predominantly icy, a hot orange hue makes the occasional appearance in menswear and womenswear embraces the spirit of the French alps, revisiting patterns decked out in red, white and blue – perfect for those hoping to stand out in the snow.
A nod to its trunk-making past, the accessories are not an oversight. Mens bags take form as duffels, backpacks and cross-bodies, whilst women’s bumbags and shoulder-sitters are finished with a cream shearling. The Coussin PM bag is given an iridescent chain strap, mirroring the reflective qualities of snow goggles. Baseball caps and trapper hats are wool or faux-fur lined and ear warmer-equipped, whilst men’s square-framed sunnies are adapted for intense light. Ski masks inscribed with the maison’s branding are also available for serious snow-chasers. Aspen Platform booties are introduced for the stylish socialites partial to après-ski and the men’s LV snow boot has been reimagined through the lens of the houses’ cult trainers, edited with a thick leather sole and logo signature on the tread.
