Louis Vuitton’s Chocolate Shop Lands In Shanghai

Shanghai has just found its golden ticket, with Louis Vuitton’s third chocolate store (the first in China, after openings in Paris and Singapore) landing in the city this month. Named Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric after its award-winning head pastry chef, the awe-inspiring space will feature a floor-to-ceiling wooden trunk display and an interior design featuring tropical motifs. The store will also feature the Vivienne mascot along with its pet lion, The Petula, for an extra bit of playful flair.

The chocolates themselves are set to be of the expectedly high, LV-level quality and are being flown in from Paris (oo la la), with prices ranging from 240 renminbi ($30) to 3,200 renminbi ($448). On top of all this, the smart cookies at the French house have coordinated the opening in time with Qixi, the Chinese Valentine’s Day, which is happening on August 10.

Speaking to WWD, Frédéric says, “We want to get inspiration from local culture and lifestyle. In the future, we will definitely bring some customised creations for Shanghai, such as for Chinese New Year.” He continues, “It’s also important to share the happiness and joy of these exquisite chocolate treats, because the most important ingredient of a piece of chocolate is love.”
