I remember the last eclipse. Growing up in the deep South West, folk weren’t generally used to being at the centre of any significant world events, especially such things as an astronomical solar eclipse, an event so dramatic that it bathes your entire town into sudden darkness during the middle of the day. 11.03am on 11 August 1999, to be precise. When I say I remember it, I actually only remember the pre-eclipse drama. “Ere, no sun next week mateys!” fishermen heckled from the hills in the lead up. I wasn’t actually there you see, as to my disappointment my parents decided to book a holiday that week in an effort to escape tourist hell. As a child, I was quite excited about it. Oh well. Thanks to Louis Vuitton, I no longer have to feel bitter about missing out. The new “Monogram Eclipse” mens collection of leather goods and travel items, which come in grey and black shadow tones, more than fills the empty space where my childhood eclipse experience once was. In the form of every man’s favourite monogram no less, and emphasised with ‘matte smooth leather details and dark grey shiny metallic pieces’. All available online and in selected stores now.
