LONDON show ROOMS SS16: The Launch

Oh, the smell of young talent! How good it smells. And, in the case of LONDON show ROOMS – how good it looks too. For, as we attended the launch of their SS16 showroom yesterday in the heart of Paris’ Marais, we were treated to a veritable flood of womenswear design talent – all fostered in this fair old city of ours. As usual, it was an eclectic mix – from the established, like Christopher Shannon and Sibling, to emerging womenswear designers Marta Jakubowski, Molly Goddard, Ashley Williams and many many more. And, in keeping with this fabulously gender fluid world we are now living in, there will also be a number of designers traditionally known for their menswear showing – like Craig Green, Matthew Miller and Lee Roach – because well, girls like to wear boys stuff too. Barbara Grispini, curator and all-round brains behind the operation said: “LONDON show ROOMS has established a solid following amongst leading retailers, pioneers who have always invested in creative design talent. Its ever-growing success is due to the designers’ strong signatures married to attention to professionalism and commerciality.” The opening reception yesterday was attended by a veritable array of fashion insiders – Anders Madsen, Nicole Phelps, Sarah Mower, Tonne Goodman, Vanessa Friedman and our very own Editor-in-Chief Sophia Neophitou, who all explored the exhibited young designer’s work. With champagne, of course.

The LONDON show ROOMS will run until the 7th October.
