Loewe Unveil A New Menswear Publication, As Photographed by Tyler Mitchell

When packing for a holiday, it’s always important to include at least a couple of totally impractical outfits that will make for a good Insta snap. You know, a towering pair of skinny heels on a pebble beach or a really chunky knit over a pair of tiny shorts in the Sicilian heat. If you’re a Loewe boy though, you’re taking a suitcase full of the just-off-the-rails AW19 collection for a trip to Spain. And in place of your Polaroid, you’re bringing along one of the most in-demand fashion photographers out there to capture your adventures. Jonathan Anderson simply knows how to make a boy’s dream a reality, as evident in the latest Loewe publication. In order to illustrate his AW19 collection in the form of a lookbook, Anderson matched the styling works of his long-term collaborator Benjamin Bruno to the photographic skills of Beyoncé’s golden boy (and the man behind her last cover of American Vogue) Tyler Mitchell. Set within the grounds of the historic locations of Piedra del Rey Moro and Museo de Santa Cruz in the Spanish city of Toledo, the longline silhouettes and chap-like fishing boots look delightfully out of place. Like the best of the absurd tourist pics, the Loewe gang is awkwardly standing in front of ceramic walls and greige-y landscapes, making sure to get that shot while also (literally) selling their looks. Were they sweating? Oh as if – you don’t sweat in Loewe.

Now for the history lesson: Toledo is known as the City of the Three Cultures, for the unique blends of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures who have all co-existed there over the course of the long history. The city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive cultural heritage. Now, Toledo can add “Loewe Travels’ top destination” to its long list of accolades. Who knew we would be drooling over an oversized woollen turtleneck and a leather trap hat amid the heat wave? Such is the power of Mister J-Dubz art-directing your holiday snaps.

The publication photographed by Tyler Mitchell is a limited-edition, hand-numbered collectible hardback.
