Loewe Arrives to SoHo thanks to Their First New York Standalone Store

The prospect of spending Christmas in New York seems like a fairytale. Ice skating at the Rockefeller Centre, strolls through Central Park on a crisp December mornin and even the chance of catching a glimpse of Mariah Carey performing at Times Square on New Years Eve. There’s already a bucket list of things to do if you’re lucky enough to be heading to the Big Apple over the holiday period. Yet now, courtesy of Loewe, you can add another spot to your itinerary.

Just in time for those last-minute Christmas shopping trips, Loewe has opened its first standalone store in New York. Located within SoHo inside the Lower Manhattan district, the store will house the brand’s full menswear and womenswear ready-to-wear ranges as well as an array of shoes, eyewear, jewellery, bags and plenty Loewe small leather goods. As with any Loewe venture, there is a particular emphasis on craft inside the store. The store’s interior is dotted with a group of 40 floor-to-ceiling spindles inspired by antique cider presses from central Spain, Portugal and the south of France. A selection of works by eight artists from the Loewe collection also decorate the space, including sculptures by Kate Newby, vintage photographs by Lionel Wendt and three tapestries commissioned for the brand’s SS18 womenswear show. All the more reason to head down to 79 Greene Street is for the debut of Loewe’s New York Postal bag. The brand’s newest must-have accessory will only be available at the New York flagship for the first two weeks of its release – the perfect opportunity to nab it before your gal pals across the pond can.

Never one to throw a low-key party, Jonathan Anderson rounded up a gaggle of celebrity pals for a cocktail party to remember, all in celebration of the store’s grand opening. With Robyn and Kindness in charge of soundtracking the evening, the VIP list included brand ambassador Jodie Comer, author Zadie Smith, the OG It-girl Chloë Sevigny, and model extraordinaire Kaia Gerber and Imaan Hammam. The legend that is Jennifer Coolidge even made an appearance – a little birdie even told us she was caught teaching Jonathan Anderson the bend and snap…

The Loewe New York store is open now at 79 Greene Street, NY 10012.
