Loewe Craft Prize 2019 Submissions Are Now Open

loewe_mainCalling all creators, submissions for the Loewe Craft Prize 2019 are now open until October 2018. Launched by the Loewe Foundation in 2016 and conceived by Jonathan Anderson, this is the third edition of the prize, with the last receiving almost 2000 submissions from 86 countries. The point of the prize (if you haven’t been religiously following like us) is to acknowledge and support international artisans over the age of 18 who create, produce and present objects of exceptional ability and superior aesthetic. Clever pieces of art that perform and look great. The prize is 50,000 Euros in cash. Ca-ching. “Now in its third year, I am incredibly proud of the part the Loewe Craft Prize has had to play in elevating the critical reception of craft and its ability to bring beautiful objects to an international audience,” said Anderson. “It has been awe-inspiring to see exceptional work from artisans around the globe being entered year on year and an honour to exhibit their work.” From a panel of artists, artisans, curators, designers and essayists, 30 works will be shortlisted and go on display in Tokyo. The winner will be announced in Japan in Spring of 2019. The countdown begins. We do love the Loewe Craft Prize.
