Lecavalier: Ready-To-Wear AW22

Stealing king-sized garms from dad’s closet is a commonality as most of us grew up to find those special pieces splattered across our own wardrobes. This very experience has inspired Lecavalier’s AW22 collection. For her second appearance on the Paris Fashion Week calendar, Montreal-born designer Marie-Ève Lecavalier is tapping into the understanding of French-Canadian codes through a range that explores workwear dress along with her city’s cultural clichés — envisioned through a punk lens that defies the traditional.

Titled “Madeleine”, Lecavalier’s intricate textile and print interpretations make up the collection through luxurious leather sash belts featuring cable knit detailing and a wide range of printed knitwear crafted in collaboration with the Kanata knit company. These are inspired by the warmth and comfort of a relaxing post-ski evening following a day out on the slopes.

Reinterpreting garments taken for her father’s wardrobe, Marie-Ève Lecavalier has crafted Canadian classics fit to last a lifetime through woven leather jackets and vibrant plaid coats constructed from the 3D weaving techniques that the designer is known for. Custom forest green-coloured denim sets come derived from blue jean Canadian Tuxedos and are delivered alongside masculine suiting and rugged chain accessories.

Delivering a collection that presents quality as a delicacy, the label continues to explore its appreciation of deadstock materials and responsible sourcing as the core of Lecavalier’s design process.
