Lanvin: Ready-to-wear AW17

We begin, once again, with accessories. This time, we’re at Lanvin and we’re talking shoes. Obviously. We’re self-proclaimed shoe pigs. Here, they were flat. Which, being of the school of Sophia Neophitou, the higher the heels, the closer to God, would generally be a “cute for you, not for me” situation. BUT after an evening spent running, yes, running about Paris on spiky 6-inchers after numerous traffic-based incidents, those little hobnail booties were looking mighty tempting this morning. Tempting too was the rest of the collection. We’ll call it French fancy. Nothing Mr Kipling-based, more this idea of an insouciant kind of Frenchness – Parisian ladies bedecked in their fineries – silky draped dresses or those covered in ruffles, delicately sequinned tweed coats, lace and feathers. But a lady cannot survive on fancy alone – and here it was countered with a kind of boyish-ness – not only in those boots, but also this touch of masculine tailoring or the button up shirts, completed with a pussybow on the collar. All very lovely.
