Laura and Deanna Fanning, the Aussie twins behind the womenswear arm of Kiko Kostadinov, took to Paris for a second season with an expansion of their clever signatures. The pair’s warped jackets, bubble skirts, and artfully-constructed trousers have cult appeal. Not to mention the brand’s seasonal collabs with Asics and the angular Trivia bag, which dressed the arms of a cluster of guests who attended the brand’s AW23 show that took place inside a school in Lycée Henri IV.
The twosome love to geek out on historical dress. This time, they focused on antique lingerie, from knickerbockers through to petticoats. They transformed undershirts into lace-trimmed tops and treated draped, woollen dresses with an intimate delicacy. The pair described the collection as “both tough and tender”. Jackets spilled off the shoulders, and slip dresses and slick trousers sprouted with tulle – all worn with thick, woolly socks and the latest edition to the brand’s footwear arsenal: a pearl-hued cross between a bowling, ballet and driving shoe. Delightfully disheveled, the mis-matched wardrobe spoke of a hard-edged femininity which is propelling the Fanning twins to new heights. Watch the space.
