Kiko Kostadinov Gets The Heavenly Touch

Hey Kiko, did it hurt when you fell from heaven? Cause’ your latest link-up is pure stylistic bliss. With all the graphic sensibilities of Heaven by Marc Jacobs dipped in the subversive style of Kiko Kostadinov, it’s a delicious edit of ready-to-wear pieces and suave accessories. And honestly, it’s living in our heads rent free.

With 16 pieces prepped and primed for you to shop right now, Laura and Deanna Fanning were feeling pretty provocative when they put their heads together on this. Part grunge, part coquette, part Y2K, Kiko’s iconic ‘Star Pants’ are reimagined in punky plaids ripped from the Marc Jacobs archive, while the iconic Heaven Nylon Puffy Bag is dissected and reassembled – its signature silicone handle fused with the iconic double pocket and geometric motifs of Marc by Marc Jabobs. Elsewhere, sinisterly twisted fuzzy textures are juxtaposed by sleek jersey silhouettes, while beaded jelly macrame cords infiltrate oversized knits. Childhood charm bracelets, playful necklaces, supersized key chains and dramatic double-headed-bear hair clips bring a little teenage angst into the mix.

Speaking of conjoined carnivores, Heaven’s emblematic two-headed bear is substituted at times by the works of London-based artist Connor Beesley, who was specially commissioned by the sartorially skilled sisters. His revised symbols of teddy bears, bunny rabbits and ‘maneki-neko’ lucky cats are ladened in youth and tales of transformation.

The campaign is drop-dead too, with British bedroom pop dream girl Beabadoobee starring alongside Los Angeles angel, amateur chef and Nasty Cherry frontwoman, Gabbriette Bechtel. Sharna Osborne captures the sugary girls in a nostalgic VHS-style, looping the whole thing back to the uncomfortable, raw and jarring nature of coming of age and feelings that go along with entering into womanhood. But don’t walk, run, because this collab is set to fly off the shelves.
