The Final Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Collaboration is (Almost) Here

When it comes to a Kiko Kostadinov show, we’re certified shoegazers. The fashions are fantastic, of course, though as soon as that first model steps on the catwalk, we’re gagging to see what this season’s Asics collaboration will look like. First teaming up for SS18 with the highly sought after GEL-Burz 1, the pair have released a whopping six co-branded trainers; each as cracking as the next (and selling as good, too).

It may come as a surprise, then, that the latest Kiko Kostadinov x Asics release – the GEL-Kiril 2 – is the last seasonal collaboration between the two brands. No need to fear, however, as the Kiko Kostadinov team (including womenswear designers Laura and Deanna Fanning) have joined the Asics in-house team as creative directors of the brand’s Sport Style category.

Back to the brand new shoe in question. The GEL-Kiril 2 takes its cues from the first Gel-Kiril silhouette which debuted during Kiko Kostadinov’s SS20 menswear collection. Equipped with Asics Flytefoam sole (which originally took the two brands a year and a half to develop), the shoe’s streamlined silhouette comes fitted with an elasticated lacing system underneath a folding hook and loop fastener tongue – resulting in a unique design with extra support. Available in three colourways – “Coral Red”, “Phantom Black” and “Steel Grey” – these beauties won’t last on the e-shelves for very long. Act fast.
