We shed a collective tear when we heard about the closure of Marc by Marc Jacobs. But now it has been announced that the brand’s former creative director and womenswear design director, Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, will be launching their own brand, which will be known as Hillier Bartley. Hooray! “Hillier Bartley is a very personal project which Katie and I have been working on for years,” Luella explained. “Now we are finally putting all our experience into making something that’s a reflection of us, of what we want to wear,” continued Katie. So what does this reflection look like? Well, according to Luella, “Its ultimate heroine lies somewhere between Ian McCulloch and Katherine Hepburn. Its about a woman our age, indie by heart, rakish and irreverent by nature, who is maturing into refinement and naturalness.” The brand will comprise of ready-to-wear, bags and accessories – all of which we can’t wait to see/get our grubby little mitts on.
