What makes a good sneaker? Well, it’s got to be durable, agile, and adaptable to a whole load of looks. Did we mention it should be timeless, too? A lot of boxes to tick, we know, but if a shoe is going to accompany you through your everyday, it’s gotta fit the part.
Luckily, Mr Jonathan Anderson knows a thing or two about crafting killer kicks. After a highly successful collaboration with Converse, JW Anderson has envisioned its first-ever, in-house sneaker. Premiered as part of the brand’s menswear AW21 collection, the high-top silhouette comes with both exaggerated proportions and coated bold colourways, including pea green, grape purple and orange. Made from high-quality leather, the sneaker is topped off with a thick, gum sole.
“At JW Anderson we have always looked at this idea of deconstruction and blowing up proportions,” says Jonathan Anderson in a statement. “Through the development with our design team and at the factories that we work with we came up with a new shoe that’s a twist on the traditional. I like to think of it as an abstraction of a known sneaker but with disproportionate volumes.”
The JW Anderson sneaker is available exclusively at JW Anderson’s Soho flagship, as well as the brand’s website.
