Don’t you just love channel surfing without anything fun on TV and then stopping on QVC or any other TV sales channel and ending up glued to it for the next couple of hours? No? That’s just me? Well, apparently not just me – Jonathan Anderson has got my back as the Northern Irish designer brings his own funny fashion spin to the format of those forgotten programmes for the second time round. After first showing his love via a video series this spring with the purpose of introducing three new key bags, J-Dubz has launched a holiday-themed version too.
Legendary performer Justin Vivian Bond is reprising her role as the teleshopping presenter Sandie Stone, joined by her BFF Joyce Nawman (played by Jill Pangallo) and her tree-topping husband, while introducing a wide selection of JW Anderson goodies perfect to put under (or on) one’s Christmas tree. After swiping one too many goodies from the set after shooting the original video, Sandie is on house arrest (with an ankle monitor to prove it) or what she likes to call “homebound for holidays,” which is conveniently also the title of the video. Don’t you want to learn how to wrap a JWA pouch you bought for your loved ones? Sandie and Joyce are here to share all the tips and tricks, in a satirical video that just might be as useful as it is funny. Dressed in a head-to-toe look from the brand’s AW19 collection, Sandie tells us: “There’s no more important thing to do on a Christmas tree than to spread those little branches and make sure they are fluffed for the gawds, dahhliing.” If I got a penny…
And coinciding with the launch of the video, Anderson has released two limited-edition t-shirts, featuring the eternally delightful faces of Sandie and Joyce, illustrated by artist Pol Anglada. The proceeds from the sale of the tees will go to AKT, a charity supporting LGBTQIA+ youth in the UK who are experiencing homelessness or living in hostile environments. It should never be just about the joke, so make sure that for every laugh, you also make someone else smile, and not just during “the season of giving.”
You can buy the Sandie Stone & Joyce Nawman ‘Homebound for Holidays’ T-shirt online and in selected stores.
