Junya Watanabe: Menswear AW20

What makes a gentleman? Forget how he walks-the-walk or how he talks-the-talk – we’re more interested in what he’s wearing. Junya Watanabe knows how to dress a real gent. He adorned his menswear show this morning with a gaggle of them – a few silver-foxes here and there – all dressed in impeccable Junya tailoring. It’s what he does best, evolving menswear staples into innovative yet timeless entities that will remain your wardrobe go-to’s for years on end. This season saw fitted double-breasted overcoats and blazers cut with expert precision – each spliced with more contemporary menswear favourites. Plaid-checked wool morphed itself into panels made from puffa, splashed in youthful shades; think pastel mints, Crayola yellows and ketchup-y reds.

Blazers shapeshifted into fisherman vests, padded gilets and camel-hued workwear jackets – the latter courtesy of the latest installment to Junya’s ongoing collaboration with Carhartt. The dashing fellas teamed their cracking outerwear with cropped trousers or casual denim, each gent completing their look with a hat of some sort. Trilbys, fedoras, flat caps and even porkpie hats. If you’re single and on the prowl for a man, keep your eye out for those sporting this collection in a few month’s time – you won’t find a finer dressed chap in town.
