JOHN GALLIANO: PARIS S/S 2011

Okay this is the scene outside the show of John Galliano – a theatre presentation where everyone pressed hard against each other to see the show. A rather frightening beginning, after being shoved and pushed and being told by a gentleman at the door ‘you are English and probably not use to this volume of people as no one bothers to come to London’  – well obviously affronted by this I promptly informed him that the best talent does exist in London and that in fact the man whose show we are all being pushed and shoved at now is English!!!! So there!!! Now enough of my ranting! Heres’ stuff about the show;

So as is usual with John Galliano he finds his woman, this time it was Maria Lani, an actress who convinced the likes of Matisse, Cocteau and Chagall, claiming they would be the centre piece of a film where the painting comes alive. The horror was though that she was a total charlatan, she wasn’t an actress and there was no film, she sold the paintings and fled to America. So that’s the back story, now the clothes lots of paper thin wisps of bias 30’s inspired chiffon dresses, beaded detailed and printed then layered with gorgeous painted kimonos, every outfit different from the next, each girl taking on a different role in this piece of fashion theatre, John’s opulent rich fantasy that always transports to another time and place.

Vive la difference!!!
