JLo is the New Global Face of Coach – These 10 Throwback Looks Prove She Deserves It

It was 2002 when JLo packed her belongings, threw her keys in LL Cool J’s face and dramatically made her way through the snow, laden with an all-matching set of signature Coach luggage in the iconic scene from the All That I Have music video. 17 years later, the  dancing singer-cum-actress-entertainer-producer and all-round cultural powerhouse Jenifer Lopez has been announced as the new global face of Coach. Meaning that Jenny from the Block will be fronting the campaigns for ready-to-wear, footwear and the leathe rgoods she made us desire all those years ago. Both hailing from New York, Coach and JLo make one of those dream couples you’re jealous of because they look so good together.

“I’m so excited for this collaboration with Coach. It is a timeless brand that I’ve always been a fan of and the upcoming collection really speaks to my personal style––an uptown downtown mix,” says Lopez. “Jennifer is so authentic. She’s determined and she’s an original who has followed her own path to do things her own way––she really embodies the attitude of Coach and our new campaign,” adds Stuart Vevers, Coach’s creative director. “I loved when Jennifer carried the Coach Signature bags in her 2002 video All I Have. She’s from New York like Coach, which creates another authentic connection with our heritage, and I’m particularly excited about bringing Jennifer and Juergen Teller together.” Same. We take this fantastic opportunity (it would be rude not to) to throw it back to her roots and dig up some of Lola’s juiciest looks from the 1990s and noughties. From her mid-drift-bearing Western steez of 1998 to thosee velour trackies and baker boy hat worn in 2002, via her take on the “naked dress” – here are 10 early JLo classics that deserve to be remembered (and perhaps even revisited in future Coach collections?).
