Ten Loves: Jimmy Choo Varenne Bowling Bag

When it comes to accessories, each season is an opportunity for the brands to have a whole new first impression. A fresh shape, an updated silhouette or just a re-visit of an archival piece? For Jimmy Choo, the name for the AW19 season is Varenne. A clean, graphic monogram logo appears on three different variations: a cross-body, a shoulder bag and the hero of the season – the bowler. Clearly referencing its name, it’s a retro, 1970s silhouette that could have easily been part of Woody Harrelson’s wardrobe from the set of the 1996 cult comedy Kingpin. It comes in 2 sizes, and multiple colour and fabric variations, the Ten favourite being the burnt orange suede mixed with the butter-smoth vaccheta leather in aubergine. Beyond the bowling shape though, the inspiration also comes from horse-riding – the design lines mimmic those of harnesses and saddles, but one you could pack all your necessities in. Accented with gold hardware and those subtle equestrian details, this Varenne is one of the bags that will take you from day to night and then back into the day. Your walk of shame will never be the same…

Celebrating the launch of the new bag line, Jimmy Choo have created a dedicated pop-up space on the first floor of Harrods. It opens today and will run until the end of the month. That doesn’t mean you should wait until then though – go, run and get your Varenne.

The Jimmy Choo Varenne bags are available to buy online and in selected stores, including Harrods until 30th September.
