Entering Repossi’s new flagship store on Place Vendome, as we did on Monday evening, is a bit like stepping aboard a spaceship. If said spaceship was full of very nice jewellry, flowers and assorted fashion sorts drinking champagne. It’s futuristic. Minimal. And, on account of the stair and mirror situation, a bit like an Escher drawing. You know, stairs to nowhere? Either way, what we have here is a store is that one might call a concept space. Which we know is true because that’s what the press release told us. Located on Paris’ Place Vendome, it was designed by famed Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, which explains the minimal aesthetic – little glass boxes to house Gaia’s designs, an elegant salon beneath and, to make purchases, a very stripped down till point. Basically just a big metal cabinet. Industrial. Tres chic. But even in it’s new fancy surroundings, it’s Repossi’s jewellry that remains the focus – Gaia ‘s refined, sculptural jewellry finding itself a perfect new Parisian abode. Now, who’s going to purchase me a nice piece of something?
