Amidst the chaos of London Fashion Week, the Phoebe English presentation is always a moment to halt, take a breather, and reflect on why we endure this carnage one season after the next; the romance of beautiful clothing. And the champagne on tap of course. So we’re elated to be spending our valentine’s day this year with the London based designer, who’s new exhibition opens at The Morley Gallery. Aptly titled Inanimate, Animate the exhibition is sliced in two halves. The first, an intimate instillation which dissects the designer’s AW19 womenswear collection in fine detail. Attendees can catch a glimpse into the intricacies that go into Phoebe’s method for making soft, wearable clothing. Interwoven with the sustainable fabric sourcing that underscores her design process. One milk-protein button at a time.
For the second part, the puppets from English’s V&A: Fashion in Motion show are back too. So tiny. So well dressed… Will I get to be a Phoebe English puppet in another life? This Valentine’s day, drag your partner down to The Morley Gallery. Or for you singletons, put the bottle of white back in the fridge, and instead be swept into the next tender chapter of one of London’s most promising design talents.
‘Inanimate, Animate’ by Phoebe English is now open at Morley Gallery in London until February 20th. Admission free.
