More royals meet fashion excitement happening this week. Not about Harry or Meghan – they have a wedding to deal with, duh. Instead, it’s Prince Charles immersing himself in our world. The true fashionista, apparently. Or just an advocate for positivity which we also love. Today, as part of the British Fashion Council’s ‘Positive Fashion Initiative’ the Prince of Wales met with Teatum Jones, Mother of Pearl and Bethany Williams to talk all things optimistic in regards to material innovation, craftsmanship and community. The good things. Let’s break it down. Positive Fashion focuses on three areas: Sustainability; Equality and Diversity; and Local Manufacturing, Craftsmanship and Community. All relevant points, very 2018, that need to be championed, preferably by a Prince. It’s that royal touch. We’re well versed on the Prince’s involvement in such matters, founding the Campaign for Wool in support of responsible fashion. The Duchess of Cornwall also came along to the YOOX Net-a-Porter Tech Hub where Camilla and Charles had a crash course on Artificial Intelligence in design and shopping experiences. They also joined a coding class. Just another day being a royal. “The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have long been supporters of sustainability, wool and local manufacturing. We are honoured that his interest in our Positive Fashion initiative shines a light on the great work being done by individuals and businesses in fashion. The visit to YNAP was a great example of how London leads in e-commerce and how those businesses are not only shaping our industry, but also our local communities,” Caroline Rush of the BFC said. Prince Charles knows what’s up.
