What’s not to love about an enormous cashmere and leather blanket bag slung over the shoulder. We would like to cocoon inside this… and quite rightly we were contemplating cocooning as this Hermès Autumn/ Winter 18 collection was quite womb like (we remember obvs) red light, red trees bathed in red light outside, soft red catwalk, a kind of birthing. And so the new ideas were a quilted leather kagoule in acid yellow, a purring soft jersey all in one; and a major medley of horsey blanket coats, trenches, bomber jackets. This was really all about ‘54 women entering a garden at twilight, a gang of girls’ according to the press notes.
Except we don’t think that they would be up to no good this gang, as anyone who wears Hérmes has such an exceptional level of manners, good breeding and taste. Perhaps they might all get together and start a committee and do exceptional things or discuss art. The craftsmanship of these pieces is undoubtedly exquisite. There was something cool and sublime about a pair of leather pants worn cropped with a tucked in striped cashmere jumper, and super chunky arm warmers. Striding off into the night this gal is going places.
