Hed Mayner: Menswear AW22

Hed Mayner is a master of proportion. His poetic tailoring and roomy outerwear have quickly become a highlight on the Paris men’s schedule. This is a designer with an immense understanding of cut, shape and form – ever so slightly tweaking his approach each season to retexture his signatures.

Still yet to return to physical shows, the Israeli talent shot the collection inside Centre National de la Danse, without an audience. His show notes describe this season as both “buoyant” and “wistful”, taking a more direct approach to his elongated ideals. Be it XXL Marino wool scarves that swamp models’ frames, jeans that are cut wide and graze the floor, or faux leather overcoats the colour of peanut butter which feel very David Byrne.

Granny florals and gentle grey chalk stripe suiting lift an earthy palette of muddy browns and blacks, with Mayner bringing a sense of romanticism to everyday dress. In Mayner’s world, huge ideas are said through a gentle whisper.
