Guido Palau Book Released

If hairstyling was an art, Guido Palau would be Michelangelo. If it was a magical art, he would be Dumbledore. No really, he’s that good – I don’t throw around Dumbledore comparisons willy-nilly. Known for “setting a trend with a flick of a brush”, Palau is widely acknowledged as one of the most talented and respected hairstylists in the world with a list of clients that resembles a Who’s Who of the fashion industry. And now he’s released a book titled Hair. (Perhaps the definition of apt?) It’s about hair, obviously, hair in its pure form. “When I go out to look for books on hair a lot of them are quite retrospective, a kind of career best-of, or pictures you’ve already seen. There are very few books out there about hair in its pure form so that’s what we did,” Palau explained to Vogue.co.uk. “It has all of my ‘likes’ of style – from punk to new wave to classicism.” The tome features these ‘likes’ of style, photographed by Palau’s long-term collaborator, David Sims. This isn’t simply hairstyling, this is art or, more specifically, sculpture that pushes the very boundaries of the medium. And as such, it’s a subject that is completely tome-worthy. Get on our bookshelves, Hair.
