Escape To The Great Outdoors With The North Face x Gucci Collab

Although Tier 4 might’ve canned any plans you had of exploring the globe at the start of the new year, Gucci and The North Face are bringing a sense of adventure right to your doorstep with a brand spanking new collab. Yes, that’s right, the Italian megabrand has united with the outerwear specialist for a collection of coats, bags and loads of outdoorsy clobber.

Taking its cues from the seventies, the collection utilises materials and special colour palettes from The North Face materials library – breathing new life into archive fabrics. Aligning with both brand’s dedication to sustainability, the collection’s accessories are made from the nylon fabric ECONYL®, which is comprised of old fishing nets, carpets and other sorts of scraps.

To mark the collab’s debut, Alessandro Michele set up an expedition to the Alps, where the Gucci gang took a hike through the great outdoors. They wear chunky bum bags, in-your-face puffa coats and white tees bearing both brand’s logos. The whole thing was captured by photographer Daniel Shea, as models struggle to scale the rocky terrain in kitten heels and slippery loafers. It’s as every bit campy and nostalgic as you’d want a Gucci collection to be. We think the brands make quite the pair, don’t you think?
