Gucci has just unveiled the perfect velvety matte lipstick for a sultry summer night and it comes in the brand’s favourite moody red hue, Rosso Ancora.
The first lipstick crafted by Sabato De Sarno, Rouge Lèvres Mat in Rosso Ancora pays homage to the Florentine fashion house’s legacy as it emulates the walls of one of The Savoy Hotel’s elevators in London, where founder Guccio Gucci worked as a porter in the late 19th century and found the inspiration to open his own leather goods and luggage company.
This isn’t the first time De Sarno has expressed an infatuation with the burgundy tone. A reoccurring colour in the history of Gucci, the house famously painted cities like London, Milan and Bangkok in the staple shade in anticipation of De Sarno’s debut collection in 2023. It populated the clothes that graced the catwalk during his inaugural show too. Triggering a fashion frenzy, there’s no doubt that the lipstick will add even more fuel to the designer’s red-hot hysteria.
