So this was Alessandro Michele’s debut for Gucci – the big idea being all on board and all change. First of all the label’s traditional Piazza Oberdan digs were ditched for a disused train station, as were the Gucci looks of late. Farewell the lothario, soft-footing it in snaffle loafers; in a lanky lad, girly curly hair shaggy and clothes a luxed-out rag-bag of thrift, like the luckiest pickings from an especially rich jumble sale. Individuality was the watchword. Gucci is now about choice – and there’s genuinely something in it for every man. Or woman…
