If there’s anyone who can make Gucci’s Cruise 2019 collection look cruise-y on the streets and at the beach it’s Martin Parr. He is the master of meeting Alessandro Michele’s Gucciverse with reality and we are v excited that this collaboration is continuing on from the #TimeToParr Instagram project. This time the Gucci boys are hanging out in Cannes, specifically Ville de Cannes, InterContinental Carlton Cannes Hotel and the Carlton Beach Club. It’s where a man in Gucci Cruise vacays. He like long walks on the beach in socks and sandals with an oversized Chateau Marmont tote bag in hand. Totally practical. Walks on the wharf, however, are taken in heeled boots, printed pants and floral shirts. Make some noise. It’s the Gucci way. All the drama from Michele’s Cruise show was still happening in those fiery animal printed knits, suit jackets and faux fur coats but here accompanied by giant floaties and skateboards. Cruising. It’s proof that this glory box of eccentric killer tracksuits, velvet flares and metallic shimmering sequins still feel just right in the beachside reality of Cannes. It’s the magic of Martin Parr. Light up your life with a little Gucci. We like the concept of a Guccified beach holiday. All eyes on us. To Cannes in Cruise 2019 we go.
