GUCCI: MADE TO MEASURE FOR MEN, SIGNATURE SHOES

Gucci’s leather goods have been created by craftsmen in Florence, since the brands inception in 1921, and yesterday evening 10 hot footed it down to the Sloane Street Store to witness their great skill first hand in the Shoes Artisan corner, as part of the house’s new Made to Measure service. James Franco was announced as the face of this new personalized luxury experience back in October, and being desperate fans we were rather hoping he’d be in attendance. Good opportunity for a romantic encounter, what with champagne flowing and the Florentine workers bunsen burners all around (for lack of candles). Alas, he must have been otherwise engaged in acting/writing/directing and being an all round artiste. However, team Gucci did a great job of distracting us from this fact with their made to order service for signature men’s shoes, in which material, colour, width and the embossing of ones initials are all offered. Further cementing our understanding of a brand that’s so firmly routed in time-honored traditions.
