FROM THE VAULT (SUMMER 2011)
Now here’s the thing: Gucci’s gone toned down. It’s rich still, rich, expensive and rich looking, as in luxe-y, but the colours – teal, grey, claret and a petrol – were less in your face, party-party, and more “I got the cash, and this coat is lined in mink, but I don’t want to shout about it.” Translated, this new – for many, less-intimidating – vibe led to some rather natty clobber from clever Ms Giannini: fitted suiting with a hint of a boot-cut, super knitwear (this gets better every season at the house) and the above brilliant coats. Oh, and bags, lots of expensive, beautifully made bags.
