Snugly sandwiched in the schedule after London Fashion Week Mens and before Milan is Pitti Imagine Uomo. For those unaware Pitti is the Italian menswear trade show that takes place twice a year in Florence. Every season a selected designer breaks away from the city they usually show in to present their collection as a guest designer a Firenze. In previous years the likes of Raf Simons, Gosha Rubchinsky, and Virgil Abloh have joined the ranks. This year Undercover and Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist took up the gauntlet for AW18, followed by Craig Green and Roberto Cavalli last season.
Following in their footsteps for the 95th edition, Pitti Uomo’s first special guest will be Belgian designer Glenn Martens, the designer and creative director of firm Ten favourite Y/Project. Eschewing Paris Fashion Week the Andam Grand Prize Award winning label will instead show their men’s AW19 collection in January with a special event in Florence. Why do we care? Not only because he’s an all-round creative genius but he also selected the 10 industry insiders you need to know for Ten Men Issue 48. “Florence’s exquisite heritage has been a never-ending source of fascination to me,” says Monsieur Martens. “I am extremely honoured to have been asked to show Y/Project at Pitti Uomo, in the core of this mythical city.” Bring on 2019!
