Givenchy To Dedicate Couture Show To Hubert de Givenchy

givenchY_main

Clare Waight Keller is on a mission. Her next Couture show for Givenchy will be a tribute to the House’s founder, the ultimate dresser of icons, Hubert de Givenchy who passed away at 91 in March this year. He was one of the fashion greats, establishing a couture house that is now synonymous with true French class. Always appearing at the end of a show in a white coat, that of a serious couturier, he created beautiful clothes for women. Waight Keller is now keeper of the flame, and for Couture 2019 she will show “an homage to his iconic creations, technique and personal lexicon… [a] celebration of his timeless elegance and grace, imbued with Waight Keller’s fresh take on the Givenchy spirit,” the House said. The collection will be titled ‘Caraman’ named after the 19th century town house on Avenue George V where the couture house is based. We expect little black dresses, embroidered gowns, big evening dresses with all the drama, uneven hemlines and possibly a couture jumpsuit. After dressing Meghan Markle for the Royal Wedding, Waight Keller is on fire as she continues her role as the first female to lead the House of Givenchy. We love a woman in charge and look forward to her dedication to a fashion legend. Couture is coming up fast.
