We love a greatest hits compilation – which is exactly what Riccardo Tisci offered to celebrate his first decade (yep, already) at the house of Givenchy. He was so eager, indeed, that he leap-frogged Milan and London to showcase his wares in NewYork, making his show the season’s big opening statement, rather than its closing remark. What did Tisci have to say this time? Lots in black and white, combining silk and lace with formidable tailoring and couture flourishes, with a healthy dose of brass studs to boot. In short, a summary of every success he’s had at the Givenchy label, whose contemporary identity he has undoubtedly helped define. How about that for throwing down the gauntlet to the rest of NYC for S/S 2016? Looks set to be an exciting season…
