Giorgio Armani To Start A New Initiative For Young Designers

Mr Armani has been, quite literally, as the helm of the fashion industry for over four decades. And now, like a kind, benevolent monarch, he is supporting the next generation of fashion at Milan Fashion Week this January, serving up a platter of young designer talent as fresh as… well, something fresh and Italian. Basil? A nice Caprese? Because, as well as his own show (the closer of the week) he’s also throwing his weight behind three young designers – Moto Guo, Consistence and Yoshio Kubo, from Malaysia, China/Taiwan and Japan respectively. They will all show in a special presentation, put on in collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. It’s all an expansion of the Italian designer’s hosting of a single designer at the Armani/Teatro each season – “Milan is going through a moment of huge asthetic, cultural and creative ferment, of which fashion is an active part,” said Mr Armani. “That is why I decided to expand and structure my iniative in support of the most talented designers to establish a unique and exciting day in Milan’s schedule.” We’re counting down the days.
