Giorgio Armani: Ready-To-Wear SS20

Via Borgonuovo 11, is the centre of the Armani universe. Mr Armani lives on this street, has offices here and for years it was his show venue, before he built his vast theatre complex further out of town. Now the palazzo houses the Armani Foundation and it was here, in the intimacy of the elegant courtyard that he held his show. It was a symbolic home coming but also a stylistic one too. The show opened with two impeccable suits – elegant, effortless and oh so Armani. He has built a multi-billion dollar brand with his informal approach to formality. An Armani woman is always well put together without looking forced. It’s an anti-anxiety approach to getting dressed. confident, easy and at times ethereal, this show exuded all of those Armani values. The clothes had cool, casualness. Short jackets and pleated pants came in calming shades of greige, gauzy separates were feminine without looking fussy. Everything flowed. In Armani land, you are comfortably dressed for the day and fabulously dressed-up at night. The models glided around the courtyard in long lean organza coats and column dresses in delicate pastel shades, embroidered with butterflies and flowers. The show was titled Earth with Armani celebrating the delicacy and beauty of nature and grounding it in his codes.
