Glasses make everyone look more intelligent, don’t they? I long for the day when my eyes deteriorate sufficiently enough for me to require a pair. Last night’s Giorgio Armani dinner was in aid of glasses – well, in honour of glasses – their Frames of Life eyewear collection, a collection that was also the subject of four short films that they premiered today at the BFI. Which was handily named Films Of City Frames. All four directors were mentored by the lovely Helen Mirren, who also played host for the evening. And can you think of a more delightful hostess? Thankfully she didn’t go all The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover on us. Instead, she was dressed in a lovely mauve Armani get-up and was accompanied by Roberta Armani, Matthew Beard, Sophie Kennedy Clarke, Clara Paget, Atlanta De-Cadenet Taylor, Toby Huntington-Whitely and BFI CEO, Amanda Nevill. Wonderful!
