When Mr Armani summons, we listen, we go, we do. The second edition of the Armani/Laboratorio project, the filmmaking workshop open to young film students and fans, is coming soon and Giorgio Armani has announced the call to action (applications). Italian film director Luca Guadagnino will act as lead mentor of the workshop, sort of like a Jedi warrior. We will be the Padawans. We digress. The workshop will pretty much teach everything you need to know about film, with eight fields including directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, production design, costume design, make-up and hair styling. The final result of the workshop will be a film produced by the mentors and students – the film from the first project was shown following the Giorgio Armani AW18 show. For the first time admissions are open globally. So we are celebrating. “Cinema, like fashion, enchants us with the use of images,” said Mr Armani. “It’s the product of team work in which the end result depends on everyone’s contribution. Armani/Laboratorio is my idea of a “film atelier” where stories are created by students working together with guidance and support from the most highly skilled key players in the industry. It’s my way of paying homage to the seventh art, the passion of a lifetime and a continuing source of inspiration.” We feel inspired already. Run, apply, win! The applications are open until October 2nd. Off to Milan we go.
