From Nickelodeon Darling to the Face of Givenchy – Tracing Ariana Grande’s Style Evolution

Hold on to your ponytails gals, Ariana Grande is the new face of Givenchy. Fresh from a monumental headline set at both Coachella weekends, the songstress has hair flicked her way across a plethora of short clips on the brand’s Instagram, teasing her arrival into the Givenchy family. Dubbed #ARIVENCHY, the official announcement is finally here.

Grande’s look in the campaign is a stunning homage to the infamous Givenchy look Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, a cinematic fashion staple near-and-dear to the singer’s heart. Dressed in a sleek black dress almost identical to the one Hepburn wore in the film, the look is topped off with pearl embellished headband that feels so Ariana.”I am so proud to be the new face of Givenchy. It is a House I have forever admired and to now be part of that family is such an honour,” writes Grande in the official press release. “Not only is the clothing timeless and beautiful but I’m proud to work with a brand that makes people celebrated for who they are.”

Long before she was topping the charts, then beating herself out to get the number one spot, Ariana was known for her ditsy character Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon show Victorious. Known way back then for her cherry-red locks, dainty short skirts and floral puffy dresses – Grande was the silver-screen’s American sweetheart. It was only when she left the Nickelodeon universe behind when the signature Grande began surfacing. Out with the red hair, in with the mousey ponytail – Grande threw on a pair of thigh-high boots and never looked back as she stepped into the world of superstardom. On the red carpet, Grande’s sweet visual aesthetic had a growths spurt. Favouring mostly pastel and nude hues, she gives classic silhouettes a youthful edge – teaming gowns with space buns, and flared trousers with lacy bralettes. Her red carpet mega-moment came at last year’s Met Gala, her first time attending the soirée. The songstress looked nothing short of ethereal in her Vera Wang bellowing gown, teamed with a gigantic bow in champagne gold.

Arguably though it’s through her music videos where Grande really begins to have fun with her style. Whether its donning a hot pink leotard whilst doing a spin class in Side to Side, to embodying the iconic Regina George in the Mean Girls inspired thank u, next video – Grande isn’t too keen on taking herself too seriously, and we adore her for it. It was only time before Grande got her moment to front a major fashion campaign, and we couldn’t think of a more iconic pairing than with Clare Waight Keller’s Givenchy.
