Fred Perry Team Up With The Museum of Youth Culture For Two Pop-Up Exhibitions

What defines a subculture? Aside from a series of questionable haircuts or strategically placed facial piercings, distinct dress codes tend to be the visual cues that help us spot the goths from the mods; the rude bwoys from the garage girls. And despite the many fashion trends that have both plagued and blessed the last century, Fred Perry has remained a youth culture staple. Making sure the kids of both today and yesteryear continuously look their best, it’s only fitting the British heritage brand is using the new decade as a prime opportunity to celebrate the style tribes who have worn the brand religiously.

Kicking off tomorrow, The Museum of Youth Culture is holding a joint pop-up exhibition at Fred Perry’s Camden and Henrietta Street stores. Entitled From Bedrooms to Basements, both spaces will be “dedicated to the styles, scenes and sounds forged by young people over the last 100 years.” Crowdsourced imagery of teens awkwardly posing for the camera sit next to original archive Fred Perry pieces. Expect to see Adam Ant fanatics, Tony Hawk wannabes and goth girls surrounded by the bands that adorn their bedroom walls. There’s even an opportunity to firmly allot yourself within Fred Perry’s history, with DIY scanning booths available at both locations to submit your own oldie but goldie pictures. The best of the bunch will be featured across social media and maybe even included in future exhibitions – get your best snapshots at the ready.

Fred Perry x The Museum of Youth Culture ‘From Bedrooms to Basements’ is on display at Fred Perry’s Camden and Henrietta Street stores from January 30th.
