Inspired by British youth culture and individualism, Charles Jeffrey brings a new interpretation of Fred Perry’s subcultural uniform and the brand’s DNA, through his inimitable lens of vibrant punk optimism. The collaboration will see some of Fred Perry’s most iconic pieces infused with a Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY aesthetic.
Both labels share a long heritage of tartan and is celebrated as Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY uses his own personal muses to influence him to embrace the twists of traditional patterns, adding his own Glaswegian DIY flamboyance to fan favourites: Fred Perry polo shirts, bomber jackets, and the iconic barrel bag. Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s signature knitwear is also introduced in this first capsule through Aran knit jumpers, cardigans, and knee-high socks.
The collaboration will celebrate Jeffrey’s lifelong passion for the nu-rave and indie music scenes which were a huge part of his life as a student in London. This can be seen in the model photographs where the bodies are outlined in a blue neon glow – similar to your vision a couple of hours deep into a rave. The collection will be released in three different capsules, the first of which released today with a video featuring James Potter from Walt Disco and Lucia Fairfull from Lucia & the Best Boys, who play other-worldly creatures landing Earthside for the first time and exploring the city of Glasgow. The film is narrated by Charles himself. We’re being spoilt! Watch here.
There is a small launch event at the Fred Perry Coal Drop Yard shop tonight from 6-9pm. RSVP – events@fredperry.com
