Ever since seeing Steven Meisel’s Fall campaign back in June, we’ve been hoping Selena might flex those designer muscles of hers. Truth be told, we’ve been pretty desperate, Joel in particular has been on tenterhooks for some time, but now that Coach x Selena Gomez has arrived, the colour is returning to those rosy cheeks of his.
Was it worth the tortuous wait? Was it ever. This was somewhat of a masterclass in buttery leather indulgence, courtesy of Mr. Vevers and Ms. Gomez, with the former clearly very excited about the release, “It was really fun to create this collection with Selena and design pieces that are cool and feminine like her,” said Vevers in a press statement. “When we designed the Selena Grace, it was about exploring the qualities Selena wanted in a bag and creating something that felt personal to her.”
Understandably, the Selena Grace is taking a significant share of the limelight, but this isn’t just about the bags – there’s the Selena Wristlet clutch, the Selena Light cardholder and let’s not forget the little Selena Star bag charms, each of which are inscribed with some pearls of wisdom from the woman herself, including “To be you is to be strong”, and, “Love yourself first”. To say we’re feeling empowered this Monday morning doesn’t cover it – thank you Selena.
The collection will be available in Coach stores globally beginning September 1st 2017
