Fendi: Resort 2020

Instead of travelling to some hot tropical destination for her next summer holiday, the Fendi lady is  now travelling back in time, all the way to 1980. Portraying her most determinate, elegant and powerful self, she is jumping into the shoes of Gloria Swenson, the title character of the cult 1980s thriller written and directed by John Cassavetes. In a style merging of the late 1970s, early 1980s and mid-2019, the Fendi Resort 2020 collection is as much about the past as it is about the present. All these retro elements are put together in a modern and eccentric way, keeping in with an Italian sense of elegance. It is Fendi after all.

Sleek tailoring is loosened up, with coats and dresses elongated to that signature Lauren Hutton-esque silhouette. Slouchy but sleek, the look is embellished with a rich library of prints and accessories. The Karligraphy FF logo pays homage to the late genius of Karl Lagerfeld, splashed across tees and pyjama-like suits. And then there’s the bags. The Peekaboo and Baguette are back again, completing the look in a variation reminiscent of the 1970s storyline, ranging from muted tones to standout statement pieces. Creating a look from the tippity top of the rain hats to the tips of the square-pointed FFreedom booties, this collection serves a clear seasonal update for anyone’s wardrobe. Whether shopping individual pieces or full looks, it’s up to you. But shop you shall.
