Fashion Revolution Open Studio And Small But Perfect Unite At The Lab E20

As part of Fashion Revolution Week, which this year marks a decade since the Rana Plaza factory collapse, Fashion Revolution Open Studio has teamed up with Small But Perfect for a showcase of sustainable fashion business at The Lab E20. Running both yesterday and today (April 27 and 28), the pop-up event celebrated the fashion start-ups partaking in Small But Perfect’s acceleration program, which assists small fashion enterprises in making the switch to more sustainable practices.

10 Magazine family member Tamsin Blanchard, who assists Fashion Revolution with the curation of the Open Studio initiative, highlights that this event is focused on championing material innovation. To demonstrate, she mentions leather production brand Planet of the Grapes, citing their aim to develop coloured leather without harmful PU coatings, as well as Roua Atelier Amsterdam and Studio Sarmite who have developed processes to colour textiles with natural dyes and minimal water waste

It’s about circularity. The whole Small But Perfect accelerator is about putting circular solutions in place”, Blanchard notes.

The event also featured circular brand One Essentials and Loom, an online platform founded by Daisy Harvey, which connects customers with designers to upcycle clothing.

From activewear through to sunglasses and underwear, the range of products sold by the vendors taking part sees each brand working collaboratively to create a sustainable wardrobe.

Blanchard, yesterday evening, also led a forum with industry professionals which highlighted the need for events like Open Studio to bridge the gap between small-scale innovation and larger businesses.
