Fashion East: Ready-To-Wear AW26

Jacek Gleba

The Fashion East lot jumped on the Bakerloo line down to Elephant and Castle for their show Friday afternoon. Lulu Kennedy’s talent incubator took over Manor Place, an old swimming baths that has been converted into a community space by Palace and Nike that can transform from a skate park into a footy pitch that emerges from the floor. We weren’t here for a game of five-or-side, though, we wanted wow-factor fashion and the three designers part of this season’s cohort certainly delivered.

First up was Jacek Gleba, who continued to expand on his Vaslav Nijinsky-inspired  body-con designs. His models came clacking in heeled ballet pumps, dressed in delicate leotards and pastel-hued jersey separates that clung close to the body. Gleba cleverly merges under garments with dance wear which he layers with wispy fabrics to create the sort of clothes that look really superb in movement.

Mayhew

Also collaging ideas was returning designer Louis Mayhew, whose whirlwind designs mix deadstock garments and unwanted tat into brilliantly chaotic ensembles. Looks were bandaged with mesh, chopped up shirts, shaggy patches of fake fur, tea towels and even old underpants. It’s like diving head first into your wardrobe and coming out dressed in a rather fab concoction. Nothing else in London looks like this.

Joining the line-up this season was Traiceline Pratt, a CSM alum behind the brand Goyagoma. His collection was led by a sophisticated design hand that felt already super luxurious. Highlights included a drop-waist trench coat with wide shoulders, in a faded mock-croc print. Elsewhere, a camo parka came with an exaggerated faux fur collar and slacks and oversized T-shirts were cut from glossy  leatherette. These will undoubtedly be big hits with buyers. Get ready to see Pratt soar.
