There was a hint of Wild West bar maid to the Erika Cavallini SS17 presentation. Note the use of the word hint. This wasn’t some small town, dusty road bar wench. It was in the ruffles. Layers of loose tiered ruffles that peaked out from under jackets in the form of long camisole type tops, or tiered skirts. Though soft and feminine, the ruffles had a certain hardness to them, due to them being paired with more masculine elements. Oversized suit jackets, military green heavy duty cotton, cargo trousers in camouflage print, layered with harness, or cinched in at the waits with thin leather belts, tied not buckled, gave the collection, to quote from the press release, an “off-kilter militarism”, or as we put it, a kind of Tank Girl, ready for anything vibe.
