All that glistens in Emporio Armani. This season, Mr Armani stated his design hand was guided by “lightness of thought and a desire to dress with hints of elsewhere”. The collection wasn’t inspired by a lavish trip to a destination far from home, but a series of references “picked up along a journey, caught in the air like traces of a gentle, all-pervasive breeze”. There was a lightness peppered throughout. From the fabrics (organza tracktops, boiler suits and blazers) to the colour palette (stone greys into pale greens and blues, before a glorious precession of candy pinks and purples). A sense of ease also came reflected in Mr Armani’s approach to cut and silhouette, too. Maxi skirts, in rainbow check or glistening sequins, danced as models walked the catwalk grinning from ear to ear. It was a joy to watch.
