Emporio Armani: Ready-To-Wear SS20

With London and New York wrapped up and Milan Fashion Week in full swing, it’s safe to say tonal dressing is having a moment. But Mister Armani is ahead of the game. He’s been styling full looks of similar shades for decades, always making sure his shows provide a blank canvas for the customer to understand the clothes and use them however they please. For the Emporio Armani SS20 show, the tonality of the Italian design legend’s creations was in top form. Unravelling a soft palette of pastels, Armani overlaid each of the hues with a lunar, silver shade. In velvet, silk or linen, the colours looked iridescent, making everyday, sporty silhouettes night-ready. That meeting of day and night also brings in a bit of trompe l’oeil sense of humour – instead of over it, a denim jacket comes printed atop a slinky tee.

This is 2019 – you don’t need a special occasion in order to dress up. Wide-legged trousers with elasticated waists in shiny fabrics are paired with almost-matching suit jackets and worn by girls and boys. And once you’re really ready to get down with it, there’s party dresses made out paillettes in a whole range of shapes and sizes. AM or PM, disco or desktop – these clothes will make sure you have fun. Whenever, wherever.
