Not one but two collections delivered at Emporio Armani with the men’s and womenswear combined – boom, boom, double whammy. The two nicely played off each other, enhancing the world that Mr. Armani creates for his loyal customers, one that is all soft serve with a side of impeccable tailoring.
So, better get set as the Emporio Armani world for AW22 will be a silvery one, with an abundance of the softest wool cashmere, super supple leather boots as leggings and cheeky party dresses. Mr. Armani likes to party; he has a tiny club in the basement underneath Nobu. He is a silver fox you see. Hot pink and abstract cubist/1980s patterns, a bit Memphis Studio, sashayed on micro short dresses and brought a playfulness to this soiree.
For the Emporio Armani man, the expert design language maybe committed to ease, all edge-to-edge and softly belted robes. But there is always an inherent sportiness too, and so there were cashmere OS hoodies and a whole slew of a snowboard team, off to Northern Italy, we think. Although, it has been warm here. The menswear made us think of American Gigolo, a kind of modern rewind and so we are downloading this iconic classic right now. All up this AW22 collection had an urgency, a currency dealing in energy and some cinematic glamour.
