Dsquared2 The Scent

Apparently there is a correct way to wear scent. Who knew? But then these are the things you find out when you spend hours Googling random things like how to wear scent. Trust WikiHow to make you question everything you’ve been doing up until this point. This new-found knowledge, though, couldn’t have come at a better time. For Dsquared2 have just released a brand-new fragrance. For men. Obviously. It’s called Wild. And is apparently, “contemporary and self-sufficient. This man works and plays within the paradigms of modern life and urban society. Yet his daily existence is attuned to a fairly audible thrum of rebellion that comes from deep within”. He is complex. And so is Wild. But does he know the correct way to apply scent?

* Prepping your skin before you use scent guarantees the strongest, longest-lasting scent. Wash your skin and apply a lotion before applying, since fragrances last longer on clean, moist skin. Apply scent straight after a bath or shower if possible.

* Layer the scent by using soap and lotions that complement the perfume. Avoid clashing fragrances. For example, do not mix Lynx with Wild. There is no such thing as the Lynx effect and, also, it simply won’t smell very fragrant. Mix Wild with Wild. Fragrance sets that combine shower gels, body lotions and perfumes are, as WikiHow says, especially effective.

* If you use too much fragrance, the scent may end up choking you or those around you. And you don’t want to be responsible for that. Nor do Dsquared2. If you use too little, the fragrance could become lost. How do you know what the right amount is? They don’t say.

* Spray your pulse points, where your blood flows the strongest and the skin is the warmest.

* If you’re wearing an eau de toilette or an eau de cologne, consider dabbing some also on the pulse points behind your ears, on your chest, inside your elbows and behind your knees. Scent rises, or something like that, so the idea is that you morph into a fragrant cloud.

* Spray fragrance from about 6in away, depending on the intensity of the scent. The stronger the scent, the further back you should hold the bottle. But not so far that the scent doesn’t actually make contact with your skin. The idea is that you, not your room, smell of Wild. It’s not air freshener.

*Avoid rubbing the fragrance into your skin. Even though this is a common practice, doing so crushes the chemicals and alters the balance of the scent. Instead, spray a small amount of scent onto your skin and let it dry naturally. Hold those wrists out and shake in the air until they feel dry.
